The Gauteng International Arts Festival might be coming to an end this month, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing to experience when it comes to arts and culture. Check out our top 3 experiences for October:

A few of my favourite things

Alisa from Vos&Ink invites you to the opening evening of her special art at Grounded at Echo. Her art will be showcased here from 3 – 30 October and the official opening is at 18:00 on 3 October. Faraway George will be performing at the event and she will also be doing some live portraits, with limited slots available.

Wood Expo & Craft Festival

This expo and festival, hosted by the Woodworking Association of Pretoria, is the perfect hobby day for the whole family. The day will be filled with woodworking demonstrations and presentations, wood art exhibitions, tools and machinery exhibits, arts and crafts, kiddies’ activities and a raffle draw. It also comes with free, secure parking. Refreshments in aid of New Hope School.

When: 5 and 6 October

Cost: R30 for adults; free for scholars

Annie Sloan Advance Chalk Painting

Learn more about the versatility of chalk paint, soft wax and other enhancements to use with your paint. The workshop includes refreshments and snacks and will take up to three and a half hours, covering the ombre effect, gilding, stencilling, craqueleur, image transfer and frottage. These workshops operate at a minimum of four people and takes place on 9 and 12 October.
