Hazeldean Valley Trails

December 7, 2018, Author: Danita Pilley

Hazeldean Valley Trails is a mountain biking and trail running park on what was once a dairy farm on the East of Pretoria.  The trails start and end at the Cowhouse Market, a weekend market in an old cow shed. There are various distances to choose from, all colour coded and well marked, with the shortest route being 5km and the longest one being 50km of uninterrupted single track, and everything in-between.  The flowing trails lead through scenic bushveld and farmland, passing cows, dams, trees and historic old farm buildings, with the occasional wooden bridge and other features to keep it interesting.  Being a relatively flat area, these trails are ideal for beginners while also challenging even the skilled riders to keep pedalling.  There is a dedicated trail running/walking route as well.  The trails are open 7 days a week.  Both year passes and day passes are available with all the proceeds going back into maintaining the trails. Dogs are welcome as long as they are on a leash.
